On Saturday Justin and I joined hundreds of other Brisbanites to walk the Walk Against Warming through the city. It was an awesome morning, though extremely hot and humid and we had a great time. The sense of community was amazing. I think I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking today.

Brisbane is proud to have the world’s largest solar-powered Christmas tree. “We have 16,000 low-energy, solar-powered lights, there are solar panels on the top of the tree, on the star, that charge batteries throughout the day and so this tree is totally self-sufficient for its energy needs,” Campbell Newman.

It was good to see some of the younger generation there marching for their future. They are the ones that will have to live with the consequences of climate change.

This guy (circled) turned up to do his own anti-action on climate change protest. He insisted on standing and listening to us chant at him but was told to leave within about 10 minutes.

The day finished up with some bands and great speakers. Unfortunately I had to leave not long after the first band but I did enjoy the day there and the two cups of fresh lemonade I had after the walk! As i’m sure you all know, the Copenhagen summit is on currently and we’re pushing for more action on climate change. We want promises. Let the world ‘leaders’ know that you want more, sign the petition below and get them to SEAL THE DEAL.
